DATADOG INTERACTIVE UPDATE 04.2007
Hi,
In a little over two weeks, on May 14th, the US Postal service will again raise postage rates by 2¢ making the cost of a first class stamp 41¢.
Most of us will bite the bullet and continue to send letters, bills, and cards via the US Postal service. But what impact will the postage increase have on your marketing plans?
Consider the economics of email as a marketing medium. Email is the ONLY medium where your cost per-person reached actually goes DOWN as your list size grows. With every other medium, the more eyeballs or ears you connect with, the higher the cost (broadcast rates, postage, circulation, and larger printing quantities all contribute to increased marketing costs).
Email economics are simple:
It costs just as much to send an email message to 50 people as it does 5,000, and mere pennies more for 50,000 people.
Why? The biggest investment people incur in email marketing is in the copywriting, design, set-up and crafting of the message's content. Large lists only require more time babysitting the software that deploys the message. Every person you add to your email list actually helps to lower the cost per-person reached.
Want some ideas of building your company or organization's list? Let me know.
